…another thing about George’s diary

BEFORE we move on from Conservative candidate George Lee’s action packed diary, one entry still deserves highlighting: His assessment that all housing matters in Camden are down to the Lib Dems.

Have another read, he says: “I hear from some more leaseholders who are unhappy with the often exorbitant service charges they are asked to pay by the Lib Dem-run housing department for sub-standard building work done to their properties – £50,000 plus.”

It’s true that Lib Dem councillor Chris Naylor holds the executive position looking after that department but aren’t decisions made at Camden Council by a Lib Dem AND Conservative coalition? Or does the power-sharing pact collapse when something goes wrong?

The last council meeting at the Town Hall had conservative and lib dem councillors pitched against each other – quite an unedifying sight really.

Everyone knows that the coalition has fallen apart at the Town Hall, and that council officers have ‘gone slow’ on delivery until the political scene becomes clearer.
