Late surges: Meet the man hoping for the Blues to drop points in the next few weeks

Glenda Jackson and David Miliband

Glenda: Defoe scores first and Spurs win 2-1..

FOREIGN secretary David Miliband is really mucking in and doing a whistlestop tour of north London today: Islington, Kilburn and Somers Town. He’s a big Arsenal fan and with Chelsea beginning to romp away at the top of the Premiership, I asked him this afternoon the most important question of the day: Will the Gunners beat Spurs at White Hart Lane tonight?

“I’m just hoping Robin Van Persie can play the 90 minutes,” he said. “But you know – it’s all about late surges. Late surges.” I gotcha: The gap has narrowed since Christmas, but here’s a man clearly looking for some quick red gains and for the blues to start dropping points very quickly.
