DAVID Cameron becomes the 19th former Eton schoolboy to take up digs in Downing Street. The London Mayor Boris Johnson, of course, studied there.
But don’t forget the old alumni lists of a Camden school that was once maligned but is now regarded as a success story. Haverstock School in Chalk Farm might just be able to claim, within a few weeks or months, that the leader of Labour Party was taught there. They do after all have two tickets in the leadership sweepstake, now Gordon Brown has stepped aside.
Both David and Ed Miliband were pupils long before Haverstock’s PFI makeover and it was considered for such high profile tasks as holding election counts. The school’s political alumni also includes can’t-keep-her-off-the-telly Oona King.
