NOTE to self: Learn Bengali. That way, we can play spot the difference when Camden leader Nash Ali takes a two-speech approach at community events, delivering one in English and another in Bengali. He recently did so at the Mela – that wonderfully successful summer gathering in Regent’s Park. Somebody with admittedly rusty translation skills tells me Nash followed his English speech, a warm introduction and welcome to the event, with a slightly more political performance in Bengali squarely blaming all bad economic things on the Tory and Liberal Democrat government cuts. Conservatives in the crowd cried foul at the contrast.
