IT was rainy, windy, blustery last night – so it was a measure of Alastair Campbell’s unparalleled braggadocio that he should stride onto the pitch last night wearing his best shorts: the pair signed by Diego Maradona. Wowza. If Diego signed a pair of shorts for me, they would be in a frame. On the wall. I wouldn’t risk them getting even a speck of dirt on them in a match against what Campbell called “hapless hacks”.
It says I play with Maradona – and you don’t.
It says And if these ones get ruined in the rain, then I can get another pair. Easy.
It says 10-4.
What chance did we have?
