OOOH, did you see the local government whodunnit in The Observer yesterday? The guessing game is which unnamed London local authority handed over its Doomsday list of planned cuts, revealing that libraries were likely to close, streets would be left with potholes and street lighting would be turned off early?

“Expect more potholes,” says an unnamed senior councillor at the unnamed local authority. “It is about paring things back to the statutory minimum. The force of the cuts is that we have no choice.”
