Mr Phelps was so close…

The Evening Standard, offers some interesting analysis of how Ed Fordham might have won Hampstead and Kilburn from Glenda Jackson if AV rather than First Past The Post had been in play. All good.. until you get to the sign off where there is an admission that this alternative scenario is, in part, based on speculation. After all, who knows what second choice the voters for Gene Alcantara (91 votes) would have plumped for?

London’s paper, our paper Londoners!, goes on to say a previously unknown character called Chris Phelps came second in the constituency, touching within 42 votes of winning the seat for the Conservatives. Phelps, you say? Who he?

Chris Philp deserves better than that.
