Thumb war

COUNCILLORS at Camden Town Hall spent as much time at Monday’s full council meeting arguing about policies over Twitter than face-to-face. Thumbs tapped furiously on Blackberries and iPhones. Are they allowed to?

I asked the council whether there were any guidelines about tweeting for staff and councillors. You can’t see it, I was told, the manual is still in production. P’ah! Get a move on, up there – the tweets are flying.

Council response:

The information requested is exempt from disclosure under:
Section 22 of the Freedom of Information Act: Intended for future publication.
This exemption applies because we have draft guidance for staff and councillors in relation to the use of social networking sites. Once this guidance is approved, we will be in a position to release it.
