AFTER the bloody mini-coups and sweary messages of last year, Camden’s Labour Party are to change the way it picks its crucial Town Hall cabinet. The system of having free-for-all votes for each position led to some last minute ambushing and lasting bitterness last time around and the party wants to avoid similar divisions. At a ‘pre-AGM’ get-together last night, it was decided the group would vote for nine people to sit with the leader on the cabinet. It will then be up to whoever is leader – currently Nash Ali – to decide who takes on what job. The angling for the best posts has apparently already started.
