TO Goodge Street where the shutters were down on the Northumberland Arms pub – ‘the cornerstone of Fitzrovia’ – this morning. Remember when we all didn’t have mobile phones, yet still communicated somehow. We all still managed to get to the pub at the right time, to see friends, to be in the same place… On the side of the Northumberland blackboard, chalk writing by ‘Hobson’ indicates the party had for the moment moved to the One Tun, a pub a few doors down.
