STREET artists have been told they are not allowed to operate in Leicester Square by Westminster Council while councillors and chief officers review how they want the place to look in the future. The sketchers are having to wait to see whether they will ever be allowed to return after the Square’s recent refurb. Josh Loeb had the story last week in the West End Extra. He posted on a picture of Westminster City Council leader Philippa Roe drawn by one of the skilled regulars down there. The point was to show there is craft in those sketchpads. I’m not sure Josh has had a reply from Cllr Roe, so we’ll have to wait and see whether it has gone on her City Hall office wall yet…
