FOI: BBC won’t say how many times it has played Daft Punk’s Get Lucky

luckyTHE BBC field a heck of a lot of Freedom of Information requests, but many of them are simply swatted away with the response that it will not release information relating to its creative content. And so, it was a no-siree last week to the requester who wanted to get to the bottom of just how many times the BBC has played Daft Punk’s ‘Get Lucky’ over a sample one week period. That’s the song which was compulsory to love a couple of months ago, a beautifully simple disco track which we could all agree was three minutes of summer loveliness… that was, until they clubbed us over the head with it so many times that we pleaded it for to end. Stop. No more.

  2. But Richard … if you had grown up in the ’70s and early ’80s, then hearing that fresh Nile Rodgers riff is like being 35 years younger. Most radio bosses (like me) are that generation. Forgive us these little indulgences.
