THAT scurrilous rumour linking Camden Conservative councillor Don Williams with the big job of running for Parliament in Westminster North has come to nothing. The Tories, who were disappointed not to unseat Labour MP Karen Buck last time around in that intriguing match-up with Joanne Cash, have picked Lindsey Hall for the role.
Tories on the Camden side of the borough boundary will know the name and recall her appearance at their open primary to choose a candidate in Hampstead and Kilburn ahead of the 2010 election. Lindsey missed out that night (as did James Morris, who stood in Halesowen instead and won a place in the Commons that way) at the Old Hampstead Town Hall in Belsize Park to Chris Philp.
She’s pictured above at the Hampstead primary with Mr Morris and Richard Merrin, who also was also unsuccessful in his bid to get the candidacy.
