Brighton ’13: The Labour lads

IMG_1709THE Camden Labour team were up early yesterday for some pictures on the promenade, a chance for them all to take stock before heading of to their different meetings. Group photographer Bob Latham suggested a picture of just Sarah Hayward and Tulip Siddiq together, which was tactfully turned into a bigger photo shoot of all the women in the local branches who had made the trip to Brighton.

This bonus photo-shoot left the Labour menfolk kicking their heels (pointy brown shoe heels, in the main) in their conference suits on the seafront, looking like a sort of cross between a dark-suited gang of Reservoir Dogs and a Brighton stag do party trying, as the years advance, to remember the cool places they used to go.

Sadly, Bob did not return for a ‘men only’ shot for posterity. So here they are for you, all ready to large it up at some fringe meetings. You’ll see Abdul Hai really is a sucker for toblerone shoes.

  1. Careful examination shows the phrase “pointy brown shoe heels, in the main” to be incorrect: brown shoes 3; black shoes 4. Acknowledgement of this error required. To be fair though, two pairs are very brown indeed, especially considering the suits they are matched with.

A more pressing matter is surely: who wears the pointiest shoes in Islington? Maybe the leadership selection process, searching for a successor to Catherine West, will give us a few clues.

How lovely. Makes you proud to be Labour.

At least two Labour colleagues are committing fashion crime in this picture by pairing what appears to be black suits with brown shoes. Tut tut. No comment about the salmon shirt.

  5. Man’s got style!!!
