ANOTHER blow for Kilburn councillor Mike Katz, who this year has been de-selected from his ward by his own party and seen his hopes of standing for the party in Hampstead and Kilburn shattered by an all-woman shortlist. Now, he’s missed out on his second parliamentary bite, Brent Central. His name missed the shortlist announced today. Always so stoical, he tweeted:
What next? Maybe there will be one last opening coming up in Camden, he will fancy. Who knows? We’ll see.
The Wembley Matters blog reports Dawn Butler, Sabina Khan, Zaffar van Kalwala, Parmijit Dhanda and Dr Sundar Thava as being the ones who made it through, which would suggest former Home Office minister Tony McNulty has also missed out. Tony’s old constituency, Harrow East, also ran things through an all women’s shortlist, blocking the path for him to return there. Uma Kumaran has this week been chosen to stand for Labour there in 2015.
