IN Finchley and Golders Green, Conservative MP Mike Freer and Labour’s general election candidate there, Sarah Sackman, a Spurs-supporting lawyer from Kentish Town, will be marking each other from here on in. Important therefore to tweet that you were at the community-warming East Finchley Christmas/Winter Festival: Mike appeared as Santa, Sarah stroking the reindeers.
Festive fun @EFFestival2012. Heres me discussing the cost of living crisis with a reindeer on East Finchley High Rd! pic.twitter.com/OcQgErpM6G

Sarah’s tweet actually shows that East Finchley has a way to go before its attempted village feel can share the chief worries of a more established, rarefied London village like Primrose Hill. When live reindeers were used at a Christmas fair in PH a couple of years back, it provoked complaints that live animals should not be prodded and poked all day by excited children… nor, presumably, PPCs either.
