Inverness Street studios

ANOTHER moment to think awkwardly about what used to be in Inverness Street, Camden Town. The reason the council put up an arch at either end reading: ‘Inverness Street market’ was…  there was meant to be a market there.

Now it’s used as a film set with cameras instead of fruit stalls.

Weeks after PJ and Duncan filmed a Morrisons advert in Camden Town, here’s the omnipresent Adele-shushing James Corden hawking chocolate in the same pedestrianised area. You can also see him in St Martin’s Gardens and Seven Dials in the finished product.

…although it was argued quite persuasively at the Culture and Environment Scrutiny Committee at the end of last year by residents that Camden is actually allowing film companies to shortchange the council on this, by failing to really negotiate harder with people who want to use Camden as film set. So maybe the word ‘little’ is more relevant than ‘nice’ in ‘nice little earner’.

At least there’s a fruit and veg shop on Parkway now – not the same, but at least it’s a local business/not a chain…
