ED Fordham’s attempt to win Hampstead and Kilburn for the Liberal Democrats may seem a long time ago now, and he is not standing anywhere else next May. But walk along a corridor with him here at conference in Glasgow, and the abundances of nods and hellos from those coming the away reveal he has retained a level of fame within the party. A neat double act, they pulled on their wedding suits, used on the big day in the summer, and recalled how equal marriages had become a reality. Alistair Carmichael, introducing, had described their wedding as the Lib Dem equivalent of a royal wedding.
