So you want to be a (local) political journalist?

FRIENDS and family of former Belsize councillor Sheila Gunn gathered in Gloucestershire today for a memorial service. The former Times journalist and press secretary to John Major passed away last week. She will also be remembered by the wave of journalists who she helped train at City University. And so to mark the day, here’s a perceptive passage from her book So, You Want To Be A Political Journalist?┬áin which she explains why all local journalists need to be wary of ‘whinging’ councillors.

It sums up many Thursday mornings we’ve had here over the years.
