H & St P: Game day

WHATEVER happens this afternoon, Labour can be pretty proud of their turnout for the parliamentary selection contest in Holborn and St Pancras. They had queues winding around into Euston Road, and began half an hour late.┬áMaybe 400 to 500 here, plus up to 250 have already voted by post. Frank Dobson stayed away, worried that people would watch his reaction to every speech – looking for smiles or any sign of endorsement. His wife Janet was there though: “It’s a fantastic turnout and we are so lucky to have such a great list of candidates. You’d be happy with any of them.”
