Burning Rome warning from Mumsnet Towers

POLITICIANS have become weary of the power of Mumsnet, which has its empire HQ in Kentish Town. Amid the posts about DDs and DS (darling daughters and darling sons), the website’s multi-million-zillion audience has the power to embarrass even the best-prepared ministers.

So watch out Chancellor George Osborne.

One of the women at its helm, co-founder Justine Roberts, was barbed when asked by the Telegraph about his budget last week. “We’re based in Camden a lot of commercial property is being turned into housing, sending up rents,” she said. “Instead, of tackling the issue, the government just tweaked tax relief on buy-to-let. It feels a bit like fiddling while Rome burns.”
