LYNNE Featherstone may have been bashed out of Hornsey and Wood Green by new Labour MP Catherine West in May, but she is not done yet and has been retained as the party’s spokeswoman on energy and climate change. If we’re honest though, the release of Tim Farron’s new top team a couple of weeks ago, in which she featured, hit home how things have changed in such a short time. Essentially because nobody seemed to care. They had gone from having people in cabinet, to having the Mayor of Watford (no offence, Dorothy) on the frontline.
Back in Hornsey and Wood Green – where Labour had targeted Lynne’s set with so much force that in hindsight some might wonder whether it would have been better to pool the travelling volunteers to target Conservative seats in Hendon, or Finchley and Golders Green – they are still monitoring their former MP’s career.
Nearly everybody on the Lib Dem list is an MP or in the House of Lords, leaving the simple deduction that Lorely Burt and Lynne will soon be uplifted to Baroness status. In doing so, of course, they will be joining a chamber that Mr Farron called recently called “a gold plated, red-upholstered Narnia.”
