I’ll save the toilets in Sutton

THREE weeks from polling day and Conservative mayoral candidate Zac Goldsmith has come up with a promise to cover the cost of Camden’s under threat public toilets. His press statement seemed a little confused about which of London’s public conveniences he actually meant, however.

“Khan’s £1.9 billion budget black hole would jeopardise investment and put Sutton’s future at risk,” he declared, sparking cries of “Where’s Sutton?” in the New Journal newsroom yesterday.

An unfortunate slip of the cut and paste perhaps, but maybe some of the local Tories could have helped untangle the rest of the press release, which erroneously declared Highgate’s toilets were in West End Lane and that Pond Square can be found in Hampstead.
