‘When rather than if…’: Lineker tips Keir to be next Labour leader

MATCH Of The Day host, former England goalscorer and the nation’s favourite crisp marketeer Gary Lineker incurred the wrath of The Sun when he tweeted about refugees instead of soccer goals last year. But the negative editorials and jug ear jokes have not stopped him having his say – and this week he was playing political pundit again on social media, suggesting the Labour Party may go for a hat-trick in terms of picking leaders from north London. When rather than if, he suggested, in reference to the well-worn view that Holborn and St Pancras MP Sir Keir Starmer will one day succeed Jeremy Corbyn. Starmer, btw, is now the favourite – or joint favourite with Clive Lewis – with most high street bookmakers to be the next Labour leader. Get in quick at 7/1.
