Belsize burn

πŸ”₯πŸ”₯πŸ”₯Β alert, as Lib Dem councillor Luisa Porritt snipes at the Tory party over whether their suggested use of the Proceeds of Crime Act against dodgy developers in Camden should be extended to rogue landlords, bringing up former Conservative councillor Jonny Bucknell’s well-documented appearances in the dock.

It’s not the first time the Lib Dems have attacked the Tories over the case, but it’s might be seen as a bold move given the Lib Dems’ own history in the ward.

The last time the party had councillors in Belsize one of them was found to have not been declaring his work at the Town Hall to the DWP, leading to a conviction for fraudulently claiming thousands of pounds in incapacity benefit. A suspended jail sentence was handed down.

That sad case is of the sleeping dogs lie variety and perhaps not so well known among new councillors, but you wonder how long it will stay like that way if Conservatives face further taunts over the now-departed Mr Bucknell’s run in with the magistrates.
