A time for unity?

Not so long ago, particularly in Camden, there was no prospect of Labour standing on the same stage as the Liberal Democrats. After the coalition government and, perhaps more relevantly to our local politics, the cold shock of losing control of the council at one stage, there were Labour campaigners and councillors who at times seemed to be more vitriolic about the Lib Dems for working with the Tories than the Tories themselves. LUISA Porritt was called childish and immature by pro-Brexit rivals when she turned up to her first day at the European Parliament with a 'Bollocks to Brexit' t-shirt. All of a sudden, you see, bollocks has become the worst of all swearheli. The new MEP did not seem to care about criticism of the language as she wielded the megaphone on the pro-European March For Change on Saturday. She was revelling in it, if anything. [READ ON]

Now Labour’s chief whip warns group to stop ‘terrible behaviour’

THE fallout from the Mayor’s inauguration ceremony continues with Labour’s chief whip Lazzaro Pietragnoli telling colleagues today that he is “truly and honestly shocked” by the anonymous attack on Maryam Eslamdoust over the cost of the celebration. Shocked may not be the obvious word given the often combative group relations among Labour councillors, but he also calls it "terrible behaviour". [READ ON]

Mayor accuses Labour councillors of ‘misogynistic bullying’

Mayor of Camden Maryam Eslamdoust has sent a furious email from her maternity leave after an unnamed Labour councillor attacked the spending on her inauguration ceremony in the press. She said: "I feel doubly hurt that individuals from my own Group would use this period in my life as an opportunity to publicly bully me for matters outside of my control because it suits their political agenda."
